MTS Flat-Trac® Dynamic Roadway For reliable and repeatable ride comfort development, the Flat-Trac Dynamic Roadway combines proven tire coupled (four-post) road simulation and MTS flat-belt roadway technology. This dynamic testing platform allows an operating car to be placed on four Flat-Trac roadway units, each driven by high-performance electric motors. Biaxial road vibration provided by the longitudinal and vertical inputs of the vertical actuators and flat-surface roadways results in a realistic laboratory environment for noise evaluation, suspension performance evaluation, and fuel economy measurement.
If only vertical input is used to replicate road data, as much as 30 percent of the vibration as measured on a typical road is missing. Use the Flat-Trac Dynamic Roadway to get more repeatable test results in less time. Because the road simulation is tire-coupled, acquired road data for one vehicle can be used to develop road libraries that may be used for other vehicles. This freedom permits side-by-side, empirical comparisons between diverse vehicles. Road libraries also save track data acquisition time for succeeding vehicles. A further benefit of the simulation is the possibility of using it as a platform for developing input data for vehicles tested on four-post simulation systems.
