Wheel

MTS's flexible and reliable systems allow you to accurately test the fatigue life of a wide range of wheel sizes.

Model 860 RoadWheel™ for Radial Fatigue
Ideal for running both routine and special development tests in accordance with SAE J267 and J328, this flexible and compact system can apply a wide range of radial loads and speeds to a tire and wheel assembly.  The system's digital controls provide the automated ability to maintain the desired load level, count the load cycles, and determine when test limits have been exceeded.

Model 854 Dynamic Cornering Fatigue Test System
Designed to test a wide range of wheel sizes, from passenger car-sized wheels to tractor-sized wheels, our systems feature the flexibility to perform both standard tests in accordance with SAE J267 and J329 and non-standard tests.   This system design eliminates spinning elements, which reduces risk and increases reliability.  It also removes alignment constraints during set-up, and allows real-time inspection and crack growth observation during loading.  With our MTS industry-leading FlexTest™ GT digital controller, you can easily program tests and directly control loading.

Model 855 Biaxial and Triaxial Wheel and Hub Fatigue Test Systems
Accurately test the fatigue life of passenger car and light truck wheels and hubs by applying radial and lateral forces along with driving and braking torques.  This test system is configured to deliver direct readout of applied loads to ease use and ensure an accurate simulation.  No other system offers this feature.  Users are certain they applied the correct forces because the measured force equals the applied force - no transformations are used.  Set up the system for industry accepted Biaxial Wheel Fatigue Tests such as the Eurocycle or SAE J2562.  Easily add a triaxial spindle to deliver drive and/or brake torque to simulate wheel fastener loosening - an important safety concern.  Leverage the system capability to test hubs and bearings along with your wheel.  One self-reacting platform can be fitted with a biaxial or triaxial spindle assembly and one of several drum sizes.
