Tear Testing
Tear testing helps characterize the toughness of elastomers, rubber, polymers, textiles, geo-textiles and biomaterials, as well as a wide range of dental materials, medical packaging and consumables. This essential test typically involves a 180° tear performed with standard grips. Although the test is simple, it reveals critical data about the strength and durability of these materials, which are used to manufacture a wide variety of commercial and industrial products.
Look to MTS for a unique combination of materials testing expertise and advanced technology to help you perform accurate, repeatable tear testing. That includes a full selection of load frames, application software, digital controls and accessories, all tightly integrated by MTS to deliver the accurate, repeatable and reliable performance you need. Other key MTS capabilities for tear testing include:
• Powerful yet easy-to-use software that streamline test design and modification
• Tabletop and floor-standing electromechanical load frames for a range of force
requirements
• Highly stiff, ergonomic and easy-to-maintain servohydraulic load frames
• Digital controllers with high channel density, high capacity and superior configurability
• A broad selection of grips and fixtures for testing a wide variety of material types
and sizes
