Fixation Device Testing

Spinal fixation systems and components must undergo static and fatigue testing to quantify the mechanical characteristics of different designs, as well as establish a solid basis for comparison of existing and new devices, including spinal implant assemblies, intervertebral body fusion device assemblies and spinal implants. Tests are conducted in vitro using simplified load schemes that are ultimately designed to allow comparison of fixation/fusion device assemblies for varying spinal locations and methods of application to intradiscal spaces.
