Certification Tests

Certification testing typically refers to the static full-scale structural tests that commercial and military aircraft must complete to prove that new airframe designs can react to all the loads generated in the flight envelope as well as the ultimate loads (150 percent of normal). Certifying agencies require these tests to be completed prior to certification flight testing, so staying on schedule is critical for on-time delivery of new aircraft. These tests generate data for a variety of load conditions to replicate a specific position in the aircraft’s flight envelope, including maximum wing up-bend and down-bend, torque and many others.
