Tensile test of elastic fiber, featuring MTS Criterion Model 42, MTS Fundamental™ Bollard Grips and Advantage High Elongation Extensometer
Tensile test of dog-bone elastomer specimen, featuring MTS Criterion Model 44, MTS Fundamental Wedge Grips and Advantage High Elongation Extensometer
Advantage™ High Elongation ExtensometerThe Advantage High Elongation Extensometer (AHX800) is an affordable, reliable contacting solution that accurately measures strain in test specimens that are prone to very large displacement in tension, such as latex, silicone, rubber, polyurethane, films and other elastomers. To accommodate these specimens, the extensometer’s travel range is much larger than is typical — up to 800 mm (31.5 in.).
The AHX800 design is based on decades of experience by MTS application engineers and continuous feedback from customers around the world. Its lightweight arms and optimized head weight ensure proper balance during testing and lower the risk of equipment damage at specimen failure. A precision optical encoder enhances measurement accuracy by eliminating noise, signal drift and output changes.
When not in use, the extensometer rotates 90° away from the work area, conveniently allowing test professionals to arrange other setups without removing it from the frame.
The AHX800 is compatible with all MTS Criterion™ Series 40 electromechanical load frames and a wide variety of MTS grips and fixtures. It is ideal for testing dog-bone elastomer specimens in accordance with ASTM D412 and ISO 37 specifications; and also meets or exceeds ASTM E83 Class B1 and ISO 9513 Class 0.5 calibration requirements.
