Introducing the Model 853 NVH Damper SystemMTS is nearing completion of a new load frame solution for supporting Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) testing of dampers and shock absorbers.
The advent of more fuel-efficient electric and hybrid vehicles has created a need for more capable damper NVH solutions. The lighter, thinner materials making up the chassis of these vehicles create an environment where not only air-born Swish and Squeak, but also, body-born Chuckle noises threaten to compromise ride comfort and quality.
The Model 853 NVH Damper System is being engineered specifically to address the entire range of damper noise phenomena, including Swish, Squeak and Chuckle. The system will feature a high-stiffness load frame (resonance > 700 Hz), high frequency force and motion transducers, and quiet electric actuation capable of delivering high-fidelity input motion to minimize total harmonic distortion (THD). The Model 853 will also suitable for performing basic damper characterization.
The Model 853 will be driven by versatile FlexTest® controller technology and be capable of reproducing virtually any type of signal - i.e., sine block, sweeps, road signals; high bandwidth PID control will enable it to follow a specified wave shape precisely, without iterations.
