Available in a selection of axial and axial-torsional configurations, robust, reliable MTS Force Transducers deliver the accuracy, flexibility and ease-of-use required to conduct dynamic testing across a wide range of materials types, from metals to ceramics, and from rock and concrete to advanced composites.
Accuracy. MTS Force Transducers incorporate a monolithic design that exhibits the low deflection and high axial stiffness needed to minimize errors caused by extraneous side loads or loading changes caused by geometry shifts in the specimen. Unique, proprietary bridge wiring maximizes signal output while minimizing the effects of stray magnetic fields to deliver excellent resolution and reading accuracy. Built-in shunt resistors facilitate regular accuracy verification through the calibration routines featured in MTS application software. Additionally, an optional dual bridge is available as protection against signal loss during critical test applications.
Flexibility. MTS Force Transducers for servohydraulic systems are available in a wide array of capacities to accommodate a full spectrum of dynamic testing. Axial configurations are available in force capacities ranging from 10 N to 2500 kN. Axial-torsional configurations are available in axial force capacities ranging from 2.5 kN to 25 kN, and torsional force capacities ranging from 25 N*m to 250 N*m. These force transducers can be stacked one on top of another, allowing users to quickly and easily adapt a load frame for testing smaller or larger specimens.
Ease-of-use. Simple mountings and a high degree of component concentricity facilitate easy and error-free force transducer installation and change out. To increase laboratory efficiency and reduce potential operator error, MTS force transducers for servohydraulic systems also feature optional TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheets) self-identification capabilities that follow the recently adopted IEEE 1451.4 standard. This allows users to store all force transducer identification and calibration information in the unit’s internal memory, making them easily serviceable and readily interchangeable.
Reliability. MTS force transducers for servohydraulic systems are constructed from aircraft-quality military specification materials, and heat-treated to ensure uniform hardness and minimize distortion. Additionally, higher capacity axial configurations are dynamically fatigue-rated. Force transducer accuracy and performance can be further ensured by using regular MTS calibration services.
