MTS Expands Presence in China

Opens New MTS China Headquarters in Shanghai; adds assembly and technical services

Eden Prairie, Minn. – September 13, 2007
– MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC) today announced the establishment of a wholly foreign owned enterprise in Shanghai and a new headquarters location in Caohejing Hi-Tech Park. The new 13,000 square foot headquarters represents a significant expansion of the Company’s 27-year long presence in China. Customers, Chinese government officials, and MTS executives and staff attended a Grand Opening Ceremony for the new facility on September 7.

“This new facility and the new services and personnel we will be adding in the coming months greatly increase our capabilities in China,” said Sidney W. Emery, Jr., MTS chairman and chief executive officer. “With the rapidly growing emphasis on research and development activity in China, we saw a need to increase our capability beyond the three sales offices we had maintained. Our new facility allows us to provide local value-added assembly and procurement and strengthened technical applications and support. The unprecedented pace of China’s new product development in the automotive, aircraft and industrial markets is creating a rapidly growing demand for testing solutions and local support in both the test and sensor markets. We want to ensure that MTS meets those demands.”

The new Shanghai facility includes a workshop area that incorporates a 2,500 square foot high bay work space complete with overhead cranes and hard lines and pumping stations, along with office space for the expanded MTS China team. The facility will allow Chinese manufacturers to work with MTS to accelerate their testing proficiency and shorten product development cycles. With the new TestStand and sensor workshop in the facility, MTS is able to provide high performance industrial position sensors and tailored solutions for component and subassembly testing at affordable prices and within shorter delivery schedules to the China market.

“Our new facility will allow us to work even closer with our Chinese customers,” said Gary Chen, president, MTS China. “Manufacturers here can benefit from MTS’ years of experience in global testing markets and industrial applications for our high performance sensors. MTS China is capable of offering a complete range of products and services – from lab planning to equipment design and installation and post-installation training and support for the test markets and practical applications expertise for the sensors market.”
