Shareowners Elect Artigas to MTS Board

Eden Prairie, Minn., January 31, 2007 – MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC) announced today the election of Ricardo Artigas to its board of directors, effective at the Company’s Annual Meeting on January 30, 2007.

“We are delighted that Ric is joining the MTS board,” said Sidney W. Emery, Jr., chairman and CEO. “He brings a wealth of operating experience and an in depth understanding of the global industrial market place.”

Prior to his retirement in December 2005, Artigas was corporate vice president of General Electric Company, and president of Energy Services. From 1994 to 1997, Artigas was president and chief executive officer of GE Power Controls headquartered in Europe, and also a member of GE’s European Management Board.

Artigas received his Doctorate of Engineering from Purdue University, M.S., Physics, from the University of Iowa, and B.S., Physics and Mathematics, from Murray State University.
