Rapid Automotive Testing Market Adoption of MTS’ Latest MAST™ Model

New MTS Model 353.20 Multi-Axial Simulation Table (MAST™) Impresses Automakers

Eden Prairie, Minn. (September 5, 2006)
MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC), the world’s premier supplier of mechanical testing and simulation equipment, is pleased to announce the positive response from the automotive industry to the newest model in the hexapod kinematics family: the Model 353.20 Multi-Axial Simulation Table (MAST™). The Model 353.20 MAST™ provides the durability and squeak/rattle testing results necessary for manufacturers to meet the demands of today’s consumer.

The manufacturing market has responded to the exceptionally versatile applications and accurate results produced by this new product. The first Model 353.20 MAST™ system was purchased by Volkswagen Wolfsburg in Germany earlier this year. When asked about their buying decision, Heinrich Rottstock, from Volkswagen’s Fatigue Lab, said, “Apart from the technology, the short delivery and ramp up time convinced us [to buy the 353.20].” Since then, several other manufacturers have purchased the Model 353.20 MAST™ to test their automotive systems and components.

“The Model 353.20 MAST™ is extremely versatile, allowing users to test a wide range of components including engine mounts with simulated chassis motions and driveline torque input, or seats, radiators, instrument panels, and HVAC subsystems,” said Mike Schultz, product manager, MTS.

With a forty year legacy of durability testing, MTS has the expertise to develop evolving higher frequency operations that use the latest control technology. The testing community has recognized this excellence with the purchase of more than 90 MAST™ systems. With this most recent addition to the MAST™ product family, MTS has once again provided the industry-leading solution for automotive system and component testing.
