MTS Announces Agreement to License and Market WinMATE Material Testing Software
Eden Prairie, Minn., February 18, 2003 - MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC) announced today that it has obtained the exclusive rights to license and market the WinMATE material testing software package from Brystin R&D Inc.
WinMATE software is the Windows 2000 compliant version of the MATE (Materials Analysis and Testing Environment) software package developed by the University of Dayton Research Institute and Wright Patterson Air force Base Advanced Materials Research Lab.
"The WinMATE software package is a full-featured testing environment comparable to the MTS suite of material testing applications," said Erik Schwarzkopf, MTS software applications product manager, material testing division. "Labs already using the MATE software package now can take advantage of MTS control technology while retaining their familiar software environment. We're pleased to be able to provide this new option to our worldwide customers."
WinMATE software performs a broad range of calculations related to mechanical properties testing of metals and other materials. The package licensed and marketed by MTS includes WinMATE software, electronic (A/D, D/A, and DIO PCI) boards for a personal computer, and a breakout box/wiring harness.
"The University and Air Force engineering and technical laboratory staff is continually required to evaluate expressions for stress intensity factors, specimen compliance, DC potential difference, and specimen precracking," said Dr. Noel Ashbaugh, Principal Investigator for the University of Dayton at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, Metals Branch facility. "The WinMATE Fracture Mechanics Calculator provides a great integrated tool for tackling this everyday chore."
WinMATE software includes the following utilities and applications:
• Fracture mechanics calculator
• Load frame alignment with data acquisition and command capabilities
• General utility package that includes waveform generator, data commander, extensometer calibration, X-Y plot manager, system maintenance editor, system configuration editor, and system diagnostics
• Monotonic testing application for tensile and compression testing
