MTS Consolidates Test Equipment Organization; Appoints Hamilton to Lead
Eden Prairie, Minnesota, October 22, 2003 -- MTS Systems Corporation (Nasdaq: MTSC) announced today the appointment of Laura Hamilton to senior vice president of the newly formed MTS Test division.
The new Test division, which accounts for approximately $280 million of the company's annual revenue, represents the consolidation of the test equipment business units of the former MTS Mechanical Testing and Simulation segment. The new division will leverage the company's world-leading expertise in the precise control of forces and motion across targeted ground vehicle, aerospace, materials and civil engineering markets. The new division together with the Software and Consulting Services Division comprise the company's Test segment, formerly the Mechanical Testing and Simulation segment.
"The establishment of our new Test division allows MTS to consolidate multiple business units into a single entity that creates a tighter linkage across our sales, applications, engineering and service functions worldwide," said Sidney W. Emery, Jr., MTS chairman and CEO. "We believe this new organization will result in a more rapid and cost-effective response to market changes and customer needs. Laura's excellent leadership capability, as well as her proven track record of operational improvements at MTS, uniquely qualifies her to lead this new division."
Hamilton, 42, joined MTS in 1999 as director, Process Re-Engineering, after a 10-year career with Corning Incorporated. She was promoted to vice president of the Material Testing and Aerospace division in 2000 where she had responsibility for MTS worldwide aerospace and servo-hydraulic material testing products. In 2002 she took on the additional responsibility for the company's electromechanical testing product line and overall test equipment manufacturing.
