MTS ANNOUNCES NEW ORDERS FROM EUROPEAN AEROSPACE CUSTOMERS

FOR AERO ST SYSTEM CONTROLLERS AND AEROPRO SOFTWARE

CEAT and Sonaca select industry leading MTS aerospace technology
to support a broad range of structural testing needs

Eden Prairie, Minn., April 5, 2005 – MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC) today announced it has received orders totaling approximately 1.4 million euros from European aerospace customers CEAT and Sonaca for the company’s industry leading Aero ST system controller and AeroPro™ data acquisition and control software.

“Aerospace laboratories around the world benefit from the unparalleled flexibility, reliability, accuracy and repeatability of our structural testing solutions,” said Sidney W. Emery, Jr., MTS chairman and chief executive officer. “We are delighted to support the testing needs of CEAT and Sonaca — two of Europe’s leading testing laboratory and aerospace companies — by providing them with the most advanced testing system in the industry.”

The Aero ST system controller delivers high levels of flexibility and efficiency to aerospace laboratories by offering up to 360 testing channels and support for multiple software platforms. Combined with AeroPro software which offers an integrated user interface for both data acquisition and control, live data visualization capabilities and support for high channel counts, Aero ST allows companies to meet any structural testing need, from static and durability tests and flight-by-flight spectrums to damage tolerance design verification, certification tests and air loads calibration testing.

“The Aero ST system controller allows us to reliably perform numerous static, fatigue and damage tolerance tests on several aerospace structures currently in development,” said Jean-Louis Magerman, Head of Manufacturing Research and Test Center for Sonaca. “The solution’s configurability and capacity to support high channel counts make it a perfect fit for our wide range of testing needs.”

CEAT is using the MTS Aero ST system controller and AeroPro software to support the full-scale tests of the Dassault Falcon F7X business jet, as well as other subassembly and components testing.

Other European aerospace customers using MTS testing solutions include Aermacchi, Agusta, Airbus, Alenia, BAE Systems, Dassault, EADS CASA, Eurocopter, IMA, Rolls Royce, SAAB, Volvo and many more.
