MTS RELEASES ENHANCED POWERTRAIN TESTING
DATA ACQUISITION AND CONTROL SOFTWARE

Eden Prairie, Minn. – April 11, 2005 – MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC) today announced the release of VX-In 3.2 software, an enhanced version of its proven data acquisition and control software for powertrain testing.  Featuring a state-of-the-art integrated user interface and a system rate of up to 1 kHz, this version 3.2 will streamline and simplify test definition and execution, increasing users’ confidence in test results and accelerating the powertrain testing process.

“This latest iteration of VX-In testing software effectively raises industry standards for ease of use, advanced functionality and flexibility,” said Sidney W. Emery, Jr., MTS chairman and chief executive officer. “This exemplifies why test professionals worldwide turn to MTS for the innovative solutions they need to enhance lab productivity and reduce product time-to-market.”

VX-In 3.2 software provides a complete, integrated powertrain testing environment. It allows test engineers to employ a single user interface to perform both data acquisition and control functions, reducing the need for manual control of independent instrumentation and allowing for data integration into a single report. VX-In software supports interfaces to over 120 test cell instruments from 20 different vendors, giving users the freedom to select from among best-in-class instruments rather than being tied to a single supplier’s offerings.  These include a CANbus interface for ECU monitoring, as well as an enhanced interface to the MTS CAS combustion analysis system,

“The functionality enhancements in VX-In 3.2 will enable test engineers to define more complex test cycles along with direct communication with the ECU/TCU,” said George Shaw, MTS Powertrain product marketing manager for data acquisition and control products.  “The software provides a solid, real-time platform for use with MTS Atlas software to automate multi-dimensional testing, such as engine mapping and calibrations, reducing the time required for some steps from months to days.”
