MTS To Provide BMW With Rolling Road

Aerodynamic Testing Systems

Eden Prairie, Minn. – July 13, 2005 – MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC) today announced receipt of contracts to provide Rolling Road Aerodynamic Testing Systems to BMW AG. The systems will be used to test passenger vehicles at BMW’s Munich, Germany aerodynamic facility.

“The combination of our ability to precisely simulate conditions underneath vehicles in wind tunnel testing environments and our race car testing expertise were critical to BMW’s decision to select MTS,” said Sidney W. Emery, Jr., MTS chairman and chief executive officer. “We expect BMW to achieve a significant increase in the quality of their test data as a result.”

MTS Rolling Road Systems enhance the aerodynamic information acquired during wind tunnel testing by providing controlled high-speed simulation of ground effect conditions under the test vehicle and around rotating wheels. To enhance BMW’s testing program, MTS is providing several additional wind tunnel subsystems including force measurement, model and wheel motion systems.
