L-3 Communications Selects MTS Suspension Testing System
For Amphibious Vehicle

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Oct. 26, 2005 - MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC) today announced a $2.6 million contract with L-3 Communications to provide a specialized system for testing hydropneumatic suspension units. L-3, a provider of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems, secure communications systems, aircraft modernization, training and government services, is building the suspension units for the U.S. Marine Corps Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV), an amphibious vehicle that allows Marines to implement operational maneuvers from the sea.

“The MTS testing system gives us the opportunity to significantly enhance our level of testing productivity and accuracy,” said William Collins, vice president of material acquisition for L-3 Communications Combat Propulsion Systems. “We chose MTS because of its excellent reputation for providing high-quality, reliable testing systems and software. We are particularly pleased to get MTS actuator technology which is well known in the testing industry.”

Under the contract, MTS will provide installation, training, custom actuators and a custom controller interface to allow testing personnel to conduct its suspension tests more efficiently. The custom testing system will allow L-3 to test up to eight amphibious vehicle suspension units at a time.
