MGA Research Selects MTS to Provide Advanced Servohydraulic Testing Controllers

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Oct. 26, 2005 - MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC) today announced a significant contract with MGA Research to provide the advanced MTS FlexTest™ digital servohydraulic controllers for a variety of testing applications at MGA’s new 117,000 square foot, state-of-the-art testing facility in Troy, Mich. Under the $500,000 contract, MTS also will provide installation, training and consulting services. MGA is a leading provider of component and subassembly testing services and testing equipment.

“This purchase is the initial phase of a major expansion with respect to durability test services to meet the needs of customers,” said Mike Miller, vice president of MGA Research. “We chose MTS digital controllers because they are the most configurable, easy-to-use and reliable in the industry. It’s clear these controllers will allow us to provide our customers with high quality and accurate test results. Our new facility is aimed at rounding out our durability test portfolio and we are planning more controller purchases from MTS.”

The MTS FlexTest product family addresses a wide spectrum of material and component testing needs. Based on decades of MTS expertise in servohydraulic structural and material testing, FlexTest controllers are the most widely used systems for servohydraulic testing in automotive, aerospace, biomedical and geo-civil engineering markets. The servocontrollers employ proven, VME-based MTS hardware used daily in thousands of digital controllers around the globe to deliver high-speed, closed-loop control, data acquisition, function generation, and transducer conditioning.

MGA has been an MTS customer since 2000 when it purchased two MTS Multi-Axial Simulation Tables MAST™. MAST systems generate accurate, accelerated simulations of proving grounds or service environments in the lab. The new controllers will be used for MAST testing applications, multi-channel real-time simulation tests, and other durability test applications.

“We believe our FlexTest controllers will be a good addition to MGA’s current portfolio of testing systems,” said Eric Petersen, field account manager for MTS. “Our controllers and industry-leading RPC® software will provide MGA with the flexibility and processing power they need to meet a wide variety of testing requirements.”
