Facing increasing competition in the cruiser
motorcycle marketplace, Medina, Minnesota-based Polaris Industries
recognized the need to get new Victory bikes to market with greater
frequency. But the company saw little opportunity to shorten
development cycles through its current mode of durability testing on
the test track, without also jeopardizing the quality and cost
performance that have made Victory such a favorite among critics and
riders.
John Callahan, Engineering Director for Polaris Industries, discusses how MTS helped his company precisely simulate
the loads and moments of the test track in the controlled and
repeatable environment of the test lab. This move has made more
insightful and repeatable testing possible in far less time and with
greater cost-efficiency, allowing Polaris to get new and better
Victory motorcycles to market more often.
