Seetha
Raghavan,
Ph.D., and a
team of
students at
the
University
of Central
Florida (UCF)
are
performing
innovative
testing on
the ceramic
thermal
barrier
coatings
used in jet
engines,
employing
both
spectroscopy
and
high-energy
x-rays to
analyze the
materials’
behavior
under
specific
thermal and
mechanical
loads. To
meet the
challenging
load control
and complex
system
integration
demands of
such
testing, the
UCF team is
leveraging
high-resolution
MTS
electromechanical
load frame
technology
and advanced
testing
expertise.
